Student Exchange Activities
It all starts with a scholarship: True to the motto of "Discover the World" 14 children of Degussa employees will spending a school year abroad this year. The young students and pupils aged 14 to 18 will be experiencing new horizons in Brazil, China, Germany, France, Russia, South Africa and the United States. This program includes preparatory language instruction, intercultural seminars and – depending on where they will be staying – a visit to a Degussa location. The strong interest the young participants have shown has encouraged the company to continue its activities in this area over the next years. |

Germany in Japan
"Deutschland in Japan 2005/2006" is an ambitious government funded project that is seeking to strengthening the existing Japanese German relations. As a multinational corporation Degussa is naturally involved here and is supporting the initiative by hosting a Student Exchange program during the summer holidays. To begin with, the participants from Germany and Japan got together for a joint weekend in Essen. The welcoming event was rounded off by a guided tour of the nearby Degussa plant and a get together with Dr. Thomas Schoeneberg, a member of Degussa’s board of management and human resources director. After this, the German students were off to spend some 10 days with their host families in Japan, while the participants from Japan embarked on an exciting week in Germany. More |
